The Fun Boat Ride

I am up with my brother Duncan at my grandparent's house spending a long weekend with them. I love my grandparents and my brother and this trip quickly became an exciting highlight to wait for during the summer. Today my grandpa brought Duncan and me to Lake Winnipesaukee for a fun boat adventure. My grandparents live very close to the water, but not on it, and have a mid-sized motorboat that can fit seven people comfortably. My grammy had to work today so my grandpa, Duncan, and I all went out on the water alone. Our plan was to do some tubing on "Big Birtha", our tube's name, and then we would take the boat to a restaurant at the other end of the lake. Our adventure started out fun with my brother and I quizzing each other on who knew more about individual animes. It was only a short ride to the boat drop off area and we quickly released the boat into the water and set sail. It was sunny and warm, a beautiful day for a boat ride. A short bit in we arrived at a quiet bay where we dropped off our tube and started the fun. I took the first turn in the tube and my grandpa quickly blasted the boat's engine with me following it. As the wake of the boat, both captured me in its jail and sent me flying in the air I had the biggest grin on my face. Sometimes when the bumps were really bad my back and stomach started to hurt but it was worth it for the thrill. After a good ride, I signaled to stop, and they pulled me back in. I was excited for my brother to go, and all though he asked for a slower ride, I wanted to see what would happen. My brother's ride started slower, but quickly it seemed no different than mine. It was very fun watching him go, and just looking at his face when he had some insane air was pure joy. When he got back my Grandpa heavily hinted that we should get going to lunch. I was a bit disappointed because I thought we would get to tube some more, but we ended up just deflating the tube and heading off to the restaurant. I laid down on the back bench of the boat, and let the sun bake me into a cake. Thankfully this cake did not turn tomato red, as I had put on plenty of sunscreen before we left. I actually fell asleep for the majority of the ride to the restaurant, only opening my eyes a few times, once when water was sprayed all over me, another time when I realized my brother was driving, and the last time when an even bigger spray of water pelted me. This nap was beautiful with me finally waking up for real out of my drowsiness right when we pulled up at the dock next to the restaurant. After a nice grilled cheese sandwich, I ended up ordering a dessert called "Fried Oreos with Salted Carmel Ice Cream" while my brother got a "Belgian Waffle with Vanilla Ice Cream and Strawberries". When I received these Fried Oreos I was completely taken back, while friend food is normally baked in a breading for some reason I did not think of that when ordering Fried Oreos. At least I had my ice cream I told myself, and I had whip cream too! My grandpa asked me if he could try one of my Oreos and I said yes, oh how did I regret that. Out of know where he took one of my Oreos and then he used it to swash up a large part of my whip cream. How horrified I looked, my jaw dropped, frozen, my whip cream was gone! Then my grandpa came in with a spoon slurping up another big splotch of whip cream. My beautiful ice cream was now naked. The best part of this was my brother was looking at me and was holding in one of the biggest laughs as all of this happened. He then pushed his waffle over to my grandpa's side, with the whip cream it had, expecting him to take some, but... Nope! My grandpa took none of his, being finished for the meal after having mine, oh how my jaw sagged. After this horrifying experience, which I couldn't actually be mad for because he was my Grandpa who is awesome, we set sail again home. This was a wild ride. There was a huge bay that we went through, with some waves that were not supposed to be on a lake. The wind was howling, my brother and I were sitting up at the bow of the ship, and the spray from the waves was vomiting over everything. The boat jumped up in the air only to then crash back down sending literal shutters down our spine. We were completely soaked, actually, we were just copycats, because everything was completely soaked. The ride was wild, and Duncan and I pretended to be sailors, from cook to admiral, from captain to navigator we sat in the midst of everything. This was the most fun, more fun than any of the tubing, just sitting there with my brother playing make believe and having a blast. We were singing pirate songs, giving "brotherly" slaps, and being truly in the moment. This ride was incredible, and a memory for life, something that just makes you smile. And, thankfully, we made it home with all of our booty intact.
